Spa At Home

With time tight and cash even tighter, many of us can’t afford to spend a day at the spa. We don’t have to skip the pampering all together, though! On a $30 dollar budget, you can spend a few hours relaxing and rejuvenating at home.

First you need to decide what kind of a “spa day” you’re looking for. Do you want a tropical escape? Passionfruit Guava. An energy boost? Pomegranate Green Tea. Time to unwind? Lavender Soymilk. Organix has a scent that will take you away, no matter what you fancy.

Once you’ve chosen your favorite aroma, add in some ambience. Get a box of unscented tea lights or grab a couple larger candles in a complementary scent. You’ll also need some bath bubbles, a bath bomb, or a soak, whatever you like. While you’re at the store, grab some indulgent reading, whether that’s gossip mags or a good book – whatever makes you happy, this is all about you! If it suits you, a gel eye mask is a nice touch, too.

When you get home, fluff up your bathrobe and towels in the dryer on high heat so that they’re nice and cozy for you when you’re finished. While the towels and robe fluff, light your candles and get whatever else you need (magazines, book, eye mask, etc-). Put everything within arm’s reach of the tub so that once you’re in, you can really relax.

Fill up the tub, get your bath soak going, light the candles, then grab your robe and towels right before you’re ready to get in. Have a nice, long, relaxing soak. Read, rest, unwind, enjoy taking this time just for yourself. Dip your head in the water, use some of your favorite Organix shampoo and get it washed, then add on the conditioner. If you’d like, let your conditioner sit on your hair as a mask while you relax, then use the shower head to rinse when you’re ready.

Once you’ve finished with your bath, wash and condition once more with your Organix shampoo and conditioner. This will get any bath water residue off of your hair, and will also give you some more time to indulge in the fabulous scents!

Organix shampoo and conditioner: about $14; Candles, bath soak, magazine, eye mask: all about $4 each. There you have it. Spa at home for under $30!

Have you taken your vitamins lately?

We all know how important it is for us to eat a healthy diet and make sure we’re getting all the vitamins we need. It’s easy to forget, though, that our hair needs some vitamin love, too! The same vitamins and nutrients that help our bodies thrive can do the same for our hair.

Organix Moisturizing Grapefruit Mango Butter Collection will give your hair what it needs to be shiny, silky, and frizz-free. Just like grapefruit is a “superfood” for our bodies, its extract is really rich for our hair. As always, you can count on organic extracts in your Organix products. Hair that’s nourished is easy to pick out; it just looks healthy and radiant. And when your hair looks healthy and radiant, so do you!

Relaxed and Refreshed in 5 minutes or Less!

Everyone needs to relax and refresh, it’s just how life goes. We need to decompress and distress, but we also need to drum up some energy to tackle whatever’s next. We may not be able to remove the stress from your life, but Organix Fortifying Lavender and Soymilk Shampoo and Conditioner can provide some respite from the daily grind.

The soft scent of lavender has long been known to relax and calm. And just like us, our hair could use some soothing after it’s been stressed. The organic essential oils in the Lavender Soymilk collection will provide much needed relief to your hair. And while your hair is on the mend, you can indulge in the lovely lavender scent that will surround you. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. For those five minutes in the shower, shut off the outside world and just concentrate on the aromatherapy. It’ll do you and your hair a world of good!

Are you thinking you’d only want to use this before a nap or bedtime? It might sound like the Lavender Soymilk set is only good for unwinding, but that’s not so at all! There’s a certain something about the Lavender Soymilk shampoo and conditioner that’s really, really refreshing. The scent is just really fresh and clean. It’s a two-for-one deal. You’ll relax and de-stress, but at the same time, you’ll find yourself recharged and refreshed, ready to take on the world outside of the shower! It’s such a good feeling to be calm and at peace, and also feel ready to tackle whatever life’s going to throw at you. Shampoo and conditioner can’t solve your problems, but it sure can create a mindset that gives you a boost.

Idol Hair

With all the buzz surrounding Season Eight’s American Idol winner, Kris Allen, his style is sure to be a trend. Looking for the right products to get that semi-piecey, hand-roughed look? Look no further. Organix has just what you need!

You’ll need the Organix Revitalizing Pomegranate Green Tea Styling Mousse and Styling Whip. This technique will work for either male or female styles, too, so keep reading! Start out by towel drying hair after washing with the Pomegranate Green Tea Collection shampoo and conditioner. Once it’s towel dried, pump some mousse into your palm (with the non-aerosol pump, enviro-friendly!). Use your fingers and apply the mousse from root to tip. This gives your hair a little boost and some extra body to support the Styling Whip. Use a blow dryer to finish drying, then dip the tips of your fingers in the Styling Whip – just a tiny bit will go a long way, so use a controlled amount. Use your fingertips to comb the Whip through your hair, starting with broad strokes and tapering as you draw your hands away from your head. Rough your palms through to finish, and voila, Idol Style!

Part III: Style it!

Deep conditioning and repair for great summer hair? Check. Maintaining it with delicious coconutty goodness? Check. It’s time to style those lovely tresses!

You’ll need Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Weightless Mousse and/or Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Styling Cream for this final step.

Have short hair? Fly-aways? Going for a piecey or spiked look? Look no farther than the Styling Cream. It’s light and airy and almost has its own bounce in the jar. It won’t weigh your hair down or make it look goopy. It’s not even sticky! You’ll want to scoop a bit out, rub it between your palms to warm it up, then run it through your hair to style. Apply it to either towel dried or dry hair, whatever suits you. Use your fingertips for a more piecey look or smooth your palms over your whole head for fly-away control. It’s weightless and it smells delish – you’ll love it!

Have longer hair? You’ll want the Nourishing Coconut Milk Weightless Mousse. It’s a non-aerosol mousse (very atmosphere friendly!) that comes in a generous eight-ounce bottle. This mousse will hold style, add a touch volume, and tame fly-aways all day long. Pump into your hand once or twice, depending on length, then apply it to damp hair. Go from root to tip with an even application.

From there, you can either let it air dry or blow dry as usual. If you let it dry naturally, get this – it won’t be crunchy! Nobody likes that gross, crunchy, product-y hair that some mousses create. This will leave your hair looking fabulous, feeling light and soft – no crunchies to be had.

You can also blow-dry and style as you usually would. The mousse will give your style some staying power and enhance the look of your hair. It will also protect your hair from the drying and styling, which is a great bonus! Your hair will look as good at happy hour as it did when you styled it in the morning, without feeling heavy or like you need to rush home and get the product out of it. This mousse is a great addition to anyone’s normal styling routine, it’s so light and delicious!

Part II: Maintain It!

Have you done your homework? Hit up Part I of this series and find out how to get your hair in ship-shape for summer. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to maintain those luscious locks – here’s how:

You’ll need the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, Self-Heating Coconut Oil, and the Split Ends Mender to keep your hair looking and feeling fabulous.

Of course, you’ll want to keep using the Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner on a daily basis. Grab a bottle of the Self-Heating Coconut Oil and stash it in your shower. In just three to five minutes, you can do a hot oil treatment! No fuss, no muss, no messing about with sinks full of hot water – it just self-heats in your hands. Brilliant!

The bonus here? You can use it two different ways! Pump a bit into your hands, rub them together to activate the heat, and apply it to dry hair. Voila, in five minutes, you’ve done a hot oil treatment. Just wash and condition as usual when you’re done. Or, you can hop in the shower, get your hair shampooed, then apply the hot oil to your tresses. Give it a rinse and finish up with the Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner. In the time it takes to shave your legs, your hair will be nourished, strengthened, balanced, and moisturized.

Go ahead and towel-dry your hair to prep it for the Split Ends Mender. Pump it into your hand once or twice and apply it evenly through your hair, all the way through the tips to protect it and mend any split ends. Blow dry it until it’s about 80% dry (look for an upcoming post on how to blow your hair out at home!). Then, pump just a tiny bit of the Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. About a dime-sized drop will do shoulder-length hair, so a tiny drop or two really goes a long way. Rub it around in your hands, then run your hands through your hair and finish drying. Not only will it protect from breakage, it also tames those pesky fly-aways!

It’s as easy as one-two-three to maintain your fabulous hair, and you get to bask in all the coconutty yumminess, too. How great is that?!

Check back later this week for great tips on styling…
