all of the bright vibrant colors! They kind
of remind us of our bottles! These
adorable looks can be easily achieved in a few quick steps.

Gradient Manicure

A gradient manicure is the gradual blend of two colors going
from light to dark as seen in the example below. First, select the two shades you desire, one
light and one dark. Next, grab a bottle
of fast drying clear top coat and that’s it for supplies. Begin by applying the light shade to the
bottom of one nail and the dark shade to the tip. While still wet, sweep the top coat over the entire
nail starting from the bottom and move towards the tip in one motion. This will drag the light polish into the darker
tip color giving it the gradient effect.
Repeat this on each nail, cleaning the top coat brush in between.

You can also create this look using a slightly different
technique with a makeup sponge. We found
it a little more time consuming and a tad bit messier, but it works great as
well. Here is a link to a great picture tutorial. Just

An ombré manicure has often been the term used to describe the
gradient manicure but it is actually quite different. A true ombré is the gradual let-down of
one color, from one nail to the next, as seen in the example below. To achieve this look you will need a dark
shade of polish, a matte white polish, a fast drying top coat, and something
you can mix polish in such as a small disposable dish or even a paper plate. Because you will be mixing the dark shade
with white to obtain your lighter colors, you will want to make sure you have
an ample amount of both polishes. First,
pour a very generous amount of your dark shade into your mixing dish. You will want to pour enough to coat all of
your nails. Paint both of your pinky nails
the dark shade. Next, add a few drops of
white polish to the dark shade in your dish and mix to create your next let-down
shade. Paint both of your ring
fingers. Then add a few more drops of
white polish to this now lighter shade to make the next one. Hopefully by now you get the gist of it, just
keep it going until you have painted your thumbs the lightest mixed shade. Finally, brush on a top coat if desired.

Skittle Manicure

For this last look, you will need a minimum of two shades of
polish and a fast drying top coat. We
like to use five, a different color for each nail. These colors do not need to be in the same color
family, think of a bag of skittles, which is how this manicure got its name. We will not bore you with a step by step as
this one is pretty easy and up to your imagination. You can use two colors and paint the full
nail in an alternating pattern or simply paint each full nail a different color,
the choice is yours. When you are all
done, brush on a top coat if desired.

Now for something fun!
Why not experiment and combine the Gradient Manicure with the Skittles
Manicure or Ombré Manicure. The
possibilities are endless!

Of course, your hair is a main component of your appearance. But how can you get great-looking shiny hair when cold weather, indoor heating, and the stressful schedule of the season all work 24/7 to make your locks look blah?

The first step to shiny hair is to wash it less often. (Hurray! A time saver!) Try washing every second or third day. Brush your hair thoroughly, morning and evening, to distribute your natural oils.
Cynthia happily agreed to share “Before” and “After” photos and answer some interview questions. Enjoy!

Describe your hair before you tried this Organix Smoothing Treatment. What didn’t you like about it?

BEFORE: "excessively tangled,
dull and difficult to manage."

Prior to using Organix Ever Straight Brazilian Keratin Therapy, I did not like the overall condition of my hair: dry with brittle appearing ends, excessively tangled, dull and difficult to manage any form of hair style. I would wash and style my hair to be the best of my ability each morning, but by the time I arrived to my office my hair didn’t look the way it did prior to leaving the house. My hair would fall limp where I had applied hairspray or it appeared as if I had a shelf in front – ouch. I walked around with my hair like this for years. Double ouch.

Have you tried similar products before? At home or in the salon? Were your results satisfactory?

I had previously tried deep conditioning products by Paul Mitchell and Redkin at home but the results were not intense nor long lasting. I still had plenty of waves in my hair, far less tangled but I never gained control of my hair for styling.

What were your thoughts when you found the 30 Day Smoothing Treatment in the store?

When I found the 30 Day Smoothing Treatment on the store shelf my immediate thought was “hmmm, this sounds familiar to the hair straightening method the salon quoted me for $500.” I grabbed a box, saw that the product was new on the market and thought for $14.99, this product claims to straighten hair by up to 95% for up to 30 days, I knew I could not go wrong and so my unknown journey into hair transformation was about to unfold. It’s so exciting to read back my thoughts and I stand behind my results 100%.

Tell us what you thought about the process of using it versus what your expectations were.

The process was virtually effortless. After I applied the product I waited the full 30 minutes before blow drying. My expectations were to really have more straight hair and shiny. I kept expectations low as I had never previously come across a product that loved my hair so much! The product far exceeded my anticipated expectations – I was in awe.

Describe your hair after you tried the product. What were the immediate improvements? Were there any improvements you didn’t expect? What were they?

AFTER: "The improvements
were 100% in appearance,
luster, manageability, non-
frizzy and body."

After using the product my hair was TRANSFORMED – literally. Using the product resulted in me attaining completely straight hair, amazing. The improvements were 100% in appearance, luster, manageability, non-frizzy, and body. I have quite a bit of hair and did not even require the entire bottle – unbelievable. I was proud of my revitalized hair. I stared in the mirror for a full hour saying to myself “no way.” I combed through my hair, the tangles had vanished. I went to bed and woke up with my hair appearing in the same condition. A few combs and I was out the door. The improvements gained were unimaginable as I never, in my wildest thoughts believed that I could have beautiful, shiny, healthy looking hair.

Have you received any comments or reactions about your new look? Tell us about some of them.

The first people to see my new look were my co-workers and to summarize their comments makes my eyes water:
1. WOW
2. I didn’t recognize you
3. Your hair looks amazing, so you finally got it done (meaning the hair salon at $500)
4. Your hair looks so healthy, I really like it
5. How did you do that?
6. What did you use?
7. Do you mind if I try that on my hair, too? (too cute)
8. Was it hard to apply?
9. You look stunning
10. You look beautiful

Do you intend to use this product again and/or recommend it to a friend? If so, why?

I can’t imagine going back to the “old” hair I used to have, O-M-G NO! I have also recommended this product to my friends. The greatest part is their initial reaction to the appearance of my hair, they get past that and then ask “what did you do?” Thus, I share my wonderful experience and they can’t get over the transformation and the price – we’re cost conscious minded, more value for the dollar is our hope, the results far outweigh the cost – I am still in awe – thank you very much.

I am a customer of life and here is why.

Using this product has not changed my hair but transformed it. I have not used that term often in my day to day life. I am no longer obsessed with washing my hair each morning and “wishing” for it to look okay. I no longer have to spend $16 on hairspray each month nor pretend it actually held my hair in place (please!). I have style now with a respectable and professional looking appearance. No matter how naive one may be about perception of appearance and hair “hair matters, period.” This product was made for me is how I truly feel. Also, my hair now looks the same way it did when I left my home for the day, that is priceless to me. Outdoor elements, wind, bring it on – I just need my comb. This is a master definition of hair transformation. I did it! (yes, with your help!)Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-36927153001407222342011-11-08T13:37:00.000-05:002011-11-08T13:37:18.650-05:00It's Electric!

You’ve seen the headlines – winter arrived early this year, dumping snow on much of the east coast just in time for Halloween. With cold weather, we get that frustrating flyaway, static hair. Argh!!! So what can you do to keep your hair in place and looking great, regardless of what Mother Nature throws our way?

First, let’s look at what causes flyaway hair, and why it happens primarily in the winter. It all goes back to atoms, and that proton/neutron/electron stuff you learned way back in elementary school. (Who knew it would relate to managing your hair? Maybe we would have paid more attention!)

The electrons in an atom have a negative charge. They are loose, floating around the center, and can move from atom to atom. The protons in the center have a positive charge. An atom that loses electrons, such as when two items are rubbed together, has more positive charge because it has more protons left than electrons.

Back to your hair: when you take off your winter hat, it rubs against your hair. Electrons move from your hair to the hat. A static charge builds up because now each of the hairs has a positive charge. Things with the same charge repel each other. (Think magnets.) So your hair strands try to get as far from each other as possible, standing up and away from the others. The result? A bad hair day.

But there’s a solution. In moister environments, like the humid summer months, the static would simply disperse through the air and not build up. In the winter when the air is dry and the heat is on, the static flows directly to your hair. Add some moisture, and voila! Your hair stays smooth and static free.

That’s where we can help. Applying Organix Moroccan Argan Oil to your hair infuses the necessary moisture into each strand, keeping the static look at bay. It also heals and renews your hair from the damaging dry heat indoors and the freezing temperatures outdoors , while creating softness and strength in every strand.

Organix offers three types of Moroccan Argan Oil so you can choose the best one for your hair type.
-- Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil works well for all hair types.
-- Organix Light Penetrating Oil is great for pampering fine, brittle and delicate textured hair.
-- Or if your hair is coarse, damaged or dry, whip it into shape with Organix Extra Penetrating Oil.

With Organix Moroccan Argan Oil products, you can fight back at winter, its drying effects, and the resulting static. Take off that winter hat and show off your smooth, sexy tresses!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-58136728906433270242011-09-15T14:45:00.004-04:002012-08-29T13:34:23.410-04:00Swept Away at the Emmys

Sunday evening is the time to check out the glamour, the bling, and of course, the red-carpet hairstyles of the Emmy awards. Doing a bit of research on my own, I’m noticing quite a few of TV’s leading ladies in oh-so-smooth hairdos with side swept bangs. Whether it’s Tina Fey or Christina Hendricks, Kate Winslet or the gals from Glee, bangs are framing these famous faces. Fortunately for the rest of us, this is an easy act to follow.

If you haven’t tried bangs since elementary school, this is a great style to experiment with. Side swept bangs are long enough to be versatile. When you don’t want them, you can pull them back and incorporate them into your longer strands. And when you want to look like a star, they’re easy to style – even easier when you use Organix Moroccan Smooth Perfection Blow Out Cream. It’s great for creating these smooth, sleek styles that the stars are loving, AND it reduces your blow drying time!

Start with a shampoo and conditioner that will moisturize and fight your frizzies – like Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. They’ll pamper your tresses with the hydration they need to be smooth, silky and shiny, giving you a great look whether you twist your hair up or leave it loose and tousled.

While your hair is still towel-dry, apply Moroccan Smooth Perfection Blow Out Cream to your palm, rub your hands together and spread this lush lotion throughout your hair, but especially on your bangs. Don’t worry – it won’t leave a residue. Blow dry your hair, but leave your bangs till last – they’re getting special attention!

Use a radial brush – it’s perfect for side swept bangs because you can pull your hair straight while curling the ends. With your brush under your bangs, pull your hair to the side. Your radial brush needs to be small enough to give some tension as you pull.

Set your blow dryer on low heat. Start at your roots and move along the length of your bangs while keeping the tension with your brush. Repeat until your bangs are dry, then seal the style with a shot of cold air. Finish with a light shot of hair spray, and you’ll be ready for those paparazzi!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-12262015589845170662011-08-23T12:14:00.000-04:002011-08-23T12:16:22.748-04:00Afraid of Commitment?<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8-EzebkB1aB9tNubyJhrq_-Qx1Xgf2f1-dFHA_Y5CRD2Y-wNmu8yrOzLpy5Y6UMSz127r-1q2ahWGUpKHq9UKW7pF-22MsWyMuEQ4AorZ7YCLjxWOpCIki4kX54Fqro0ikv3z8v1naj0/s320/BKT-14day-Boxes.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644085949695979442" />

Introducing Organix® Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Collection

Nourish dry, damaged tresses with the latest Organix® hair care collection, Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil. The moisturizing formula includes fair trade argan oil, a powerful antioxidant that is rich in vitamins to instantly penetrate the hair shaft restoring shine while strengthening and increasing hair’s elasticity. Derived from the southwest region of Morocco, lightweight argan oil also protects from UV damage while creating soft, silky perfection.
Fair trade argan oil used in the Organix formula is extracted using a cold-pressed method, so that oil is not heated over a certain temperature during processing. This technique helps retain more nutrients and ensures that the argan oil undergoes less degradation.
The Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil collection includes:

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
Indulge the senses with a nourishing formula that is free of sulfates, phosphates and parabens. Safe for color-treated hair, the Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner will restore moisture to dry hair and stimulate the scalp to create a cleansing and rejuvenating experience.

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment
Restore hair’s inner health with argan oil nutrients to add brilliant shine with the sweet smelling blend of enriching active ingredients. Scoop a small amount of Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment into palm and evenly distribute with a wide tooth comb from the roots down to the ends. Leave Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment in hair for five to seven minutes and rinse with mild to cool water. The hydrating formula will not weigh hair down or leave any residue.

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil
For a radiant shine that will stay with you all day long, the ultra-light Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil will fight frizz, and moisturize brittle hair. To reduce drying time, apply a small amount of Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil to damp or towel dried hair working through to ends.
So, how do you handle that stress? Well, one of the tactics you can use to relieve some of the tension and stress you may be feeling is right at your fingertips….literally. A scalp massage is great for releasing stress, alleviating painful headaches, increasing blood flow, preventing dandruff and get this: hair growth! Think about when you go to the salon or when you used to lie in your mommy’s lap and get a lovely scalp massage. It felt heavenly, didn’t it? Well, you can do the same thing for yourself.

What gets even better is that you can do it anywhere: your desk, car, bed, etc. Just take your pick! An excellent place to try it is in the shower. Use an invigorating shampoo like Organix Hydrating Teatree Mint and massage away. Your senses will be awakened and your scalp will thank you! So when you’re feeling stressed out, take a minute. Breathe a couple deep breaths and massage the scalp. Simply apply your fingers to your scalp and move fingers in circular motions. It’s easy as 1,2,3!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-47865390966496514742010-08-04T10:35:00.002-04:002010-08-04T10:39:42.352-04:00Stress 101<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEighlMVi6JBeGDs94ghAP7mn09AWTWwcxqH3zwNoWSxmURqjeou22IvN-Y6BW3IAS4AgErFvCfzV46g3HOO9_-4sDEYL3sPI3Q_2mtqrOVhd_v4nFy2HAkaz8nhIaIpzJebliKUYg3axw4/s320/woman_stress+(2).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501564286823711746" />

From the CEO to the kid in the mailroom, the recession has left no job unturned. Employers are searching for ways to cut back and employees are overworking themselves to make sure they’re not the ones on the chopping block. In a situation as serious as an economic recession unlike any historic financial crisis in its’ past, stress levels are at their highest. Question is, what happens when the stress starts to appear on more than just the face?

One of the symptoms of a heightened level of stress is hair loss. It’s not uncommon so don’t feel bad if you’re in your 20s or 30s and it’s happening sooner than you expected. There is hope for preservation of the hairline. View it as an indication that stress management needs to kick in. It would still be recommended to see a doctor just to make sure stress is the culprit of hair loss. Here are some ways to manage the stress in your life:

1. Make positivity #1- Well…yes, it’s number one on this list but make it number one in your life as well. Whether it’s refusing to wallow in your disappointment about being passed over for a promotion or pressing ‘Ignore’ when that one friend calls to dump all her issues on you (and yes, we all have one of those friends), it’s time to let go of negativity and move forward. Encourage yourself when you wake up. Make a decision that you are going to conquer the day! You can do it! You’ll feel better for it!

2. Learn to say “N-O!”- Think of the D.A.R.E. program when we were in school. The slogan was “Just say No!” Why? Because drugs are bad for your body! Stress is bad for your body too! Prioritize what’s important and move accordingly. You’re not a bad person if you say no! You’re extremely wise once you get this one down pat!

3. Break a sweat!- Seriously, stress can be reduced with a simple 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. Breathe the fresh air and allow yourself time to become energized and in tune with your thoughts all while toning those legs for that skirt you want to wear at that party next month! In the summertime, the sun sets later so take some time after work and just go! Just make sure to hit the showers after the workout and shampoo all the dirt and sweat out of your hair with Organix shampoo and conditioner!

4. Treat yourself!- Have some sort of reward at the end of an arduous task. “Once I finish cleaning my room, I will treat myself to a bouquet of lovely tulips!” Think of something that will help make the work seem less like work so that you’ll look forward to completing a task. It makes life a little sweeter!

5. Phone a friend!- Have a least one friend that you can confide in and let your guard down with. After a while, talking to yourself or your imaginary friend can only do so much. It’s nice to have someone to bounce things off of over dinner and get some sympathy and solutions (and perhaps a free meal) out of!

Remember stress can only beat you if you let it! Use these tips and you’re well on your way to becoming the stress management queen for good!!!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-71710500259367501892010-06-15T17:38:00.003-04:002010-06-15T17:40:08.295-04:00Fashion 911<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcm9KymoJhInl2So1aSiOlcgQcTIlZ0mmHNLmd4jXrAyYMjBV2l2wF-zwj05LNXAzgVO7DkG22GFZKN5dXR1uHRFRVrWcyr0Om1cRy60qJvwpaQI53S6G-KAldjx7p-Y8eqXeLFmvx3IM/s320/fashion+first.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5483118205910688802" />
Ever had a wardrobe malfunction? We’ve all been there… whether it is a run in your pantyhose, a broken heel, or just that dreaded static cling, these things happen. But sometimes it turns into a FASHION EMERGENCY!!! Imagine you have a presentation to give in front of a room full of people or an interview for your dream job, what do you do?

Here is an idea that has been a lifesaver. Grab a makeup bag or a pencil box and fill it with these common household items and store it in your car or office.

Sewing Kit - Use to darn holes or replace buttons or snaps.
Super Glue - A thin layer will reattach a flapping sole, broken heel or nail.
Baby Powder - Hair greasy? Sprinkle a bit on the roots to absorb excess oil.
Lint Brush - Got lint? Make it disappear in just a few quick rolls.
Pencil Eraser - Have an earring back go missing? Pop off an eraser or use it to remove scuff marks from shoes.
Nail File - Use to smooth rough nail edges to prevent snags on your pantyhose and clothes.
Dryer Sheets - Rub over tights and clothing to banish static cling.
Clear Nail Polish - Stop a run in pantyhose or affix a loose button with a drop of nail enamel or hey… add a top coat.
Candle- Plain wax can mobilize a stuck zipper.
Rubber Bands - Loop one through a buttonhole and attach both ends to the button to get breathing room in a tight waist.
Permanent Marker - Color in blemishes on footwear.
Safety Pins - Can stand in for a broken necklace clasp or make a quick fix.
Hair Spray - Use to tame flyaway’s or remove ink from clothing.
Spot Remover - Just a dab will do ya when you spill mocha latte on your blouse.
Double Sided Tape - Use this to help bra straps stay put, re-attach hems, manage plunging necklines, close gaps between buttons, and repair split seams.

This easy to assemble fashion first aid kit will allow you to avoid the next fashion disaster and keep you looking absolutely fabulous at all time. Enjoy!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-72905259095946113392010-05-13T10:13:00.005-04:002012-08-29T13:28:38.441-04:00Cheap Trick
Straight from the Spring 2010 Catwalks of Fendi, YSL, and Lanvin and on to the Red Carpet, this spring trend is popping up everywhere. Here is a cheap trick to achieve this hot new look. Pick up a round mesh pot scrubber from your local grocery store for about $2, this makes the perfect base for your bun. Cut a hole in the middle, then slide your ponytail through the center. Next, wrap your hair all around the scrubber, fasten the ends with a hair pin and viola!

Hair care maintenance in the summertime is crucial. Whether you choose to let the sun work for you or against you is your choice but here are a few tips to have fabulous, healthy summer hair:

1. Drink PLENTY of water!!! Water is hydrating not only for your body but for your hair. It flushes out all the bad guys and keeps your hair looking fresh! So carry around your 64 oz. jug w/ a little lemon for convenience. If that doesn't work, find a routine that works for you. Schedule in water breaks. It's worth it! Your health is your wealth!

2. Befriend the Scissor!!! It's so important to trim ends. Hair can easily become more dry and brittle depending on the climate you live in. Add in the frequent visits to the beach/pool and more shampooing and conditioning than normal; without proper maintenance, you could have a disaster on your hands (or in this case, head). Trims should be done every 6-8 weeks or sooner, depending on instructions from a personal hair stylist.

3. Condition! Condition! Condition!!!! Chlorine, salt, sand, sun, hair dyes: these are elements that can destroy hair. That's why it's important to use a conditioning agent before getting in the water so that the hair has a protectant against the elements. For ladies who are ready to color and dye, know that the blond highlights will not be lovely if not properly conditioned! Organix Shea Butter, Coconut Milk, or Teatree Mint Shampoos and Conditioners are great protein-rich options that will protect the hair and keep it silky and soft!

4. Keep it as NATURAL as possible!!! Lots of hair products contain sulfates and parabens which can dry out hair and leave it brittle! Organix hair care products are both sulfate and paraben free so the hair follicle isn't stripped of unnecessary nutrients.

All it takes a couple smart lifestyle changes like opting for water instead of soda, reading the labels on beauty products, and a walk to your nearest beauty supply aisle for healthy, glowing summer hair! In the quest to keep hair lovely, go with Organix!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-30355285525640365552010-04-15T15:56:00.018-04:002012-08-29T13:27:31.513-04:00Spring 2010 TrendsWhat’s hot this season? There are several new looks heavily influenced by the 2010 Spring catwalks and the good news is that they are super easy to master at home.

One style that was featured this year on the runways of Alexander Wang and Prada's Miu Miu was the long side braid. This style works best on medium to long hair and must be done with a side part (not a center part) that will be opposite the braid. Gather your hair to one side and then braid all the way down to the tips. Use a hair friendly rubber band to fasten and that’s it! Easy right?

The fabulous 40’s are back again this season with waves that are firm but not curly. Channel your favorite pin up with this look that is timeless. This throwback was seen at Christian Dior and is best on medium to long hair with a side part. For retro curls, use a large barrel curling iron or large rollers. Make sure to wind the hair around the tool of your choice starting at the tips. After all the curling is complete, use a hair brush and curve the curls around your hand so they roll inward. Brush the curls lightly, you want to soften them without creating too much separation.

Think 70’s Cher. This ultra sleek style definitely works on super long hair. Done with a side or center part, use a flat iron to get hair stick straight. Seen on the runway of Anna Sui, 1970’s inspired long hair. Disco!
There are three variations to this trend. The first is a look that is slicked straight back. Start with wet hair and then apply gel to the palm of your hands, rub together and smooth hair from the front of the forehead all the way back to the crown. Use a wide tooth comb to provide the texture and go with the wet look. This style screams attitude and was seen on the runways of Alexander Wang and Thakoon. The second look is a gel slicked side. It is a mutation of the 2009’s side shaved head made famous by Rhianna. This style is best suited for short hair. Simply apply gel to the sides of your hair and slick from the temple to behind the ear. This was popular at the Roberto Cavalli show. Last but not least is this gender bending look found on the runways of Gucci. Known as masculine or androgynous slicked hair, this style goes great with this years fashion trend, the female dandy and works best on short hair, especially those pixie crops. Start with a strongly defined side part that is as far over to the side as is suitable to your face. Use gel to slick everything down, not back.
Karl Lagerfeld went with a chignon, originating from the French word (of course) chignon du cou, meaning nape of neck. The chignon translated, is an elegant bun or twist that sits at the nape of your neck. This look is so perfect for day or night and can be neat or messy. Carolina Herrera chose a unique version and entwined silver and bronze beads for the embellished effect. Classy!

Another neat or messy trend is the top knot. A playful look on the streets in 2009, made its way onto the Nina Ricci and Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 stage. Theirs, a sleek version, was a tidy bun stacked on the tip top of the head, it is also really cute slightly off to the side and best for straight hair. If you are wearing your hair curly these days, try the messy version seen at Lanvin, YSL, and Fendi. Think beautiful birds nest and sweep your hair up in a haphazard fashion, then spin, pile, and twist. Volume is key, so teasing and hairspray will help you create this look.

Finally, from Zac Posen comes the rope twist, yet another carelessly thrown together look. Simply take two strands, twist each of them and then wind both together to form a rope. Use the rope to make any form or creation that you wish. You can leave them cascading down, tied up into a bun, or twist around your head, the choice is yours!
To get curls as glamorous as Taylor Swift’s start by shampooing and conditioning with your favorite Organix flavor!

If your hair is baby fine you can skip the conditioner as it might make your hair too flat. Instead, try using Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Leave-In Nourishing Milk. If you think conditioner is a must, then just use a small amount and start in the middle of your head and work through to the ends. To increase shine, rinse with cool water.

Gently towel dry your hair by blotting not rubbing. Hair is the most vulnerable when it is wet. Use a wide tooth comb to remove tangles and start combing at the ends, working your way to the roots.

Use the Organix Mousse of your choice to add body and volume. Again, when applying, start in the middle (just above the ears) and work the mousse through to the ends. Does your hair tend to be a bit on the frizzy side? If so, apply a small amount of your favorite Organix Serum.

Next, apply a small amount of your favorite Organix Blow Dry Cream to protect your luscious locks from the heat of styling tools. For those with naturally curly or wavy hair, make sure to use a diffuser when you blow dry. To prevent frizz, avoid touching your hair as much as possible. If your hair is naturally straight, then it is going to be all about building some volume. Try flipping your head over while you are blow drying and aim the air up toward the roots. The air will be working against the cuticle and will open it up instead of making it lay flat, this will give you the extra fullness you need. To finish both styles up, give it a blast of cold air to set the style and add more shine!

After drying, use a small barrel curling iron to either create the ringlets or enhance your natural ringlets by making them more defined. Once complete, arrange your curls with your fingers into the desired pattern. To maximize shine and tame fly-a-ways, put a small amount of your favorite Organix Shine Serum into the palm of your hands and rub together, then lightly brush your palms over the top of your hair, gently! Finish with a light holding spray and voila!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-63437574937941062212010-03-22T10:48:00.001-04:002012-08-29T13:27:02.115-04:00And the award goes to… Sandra Bullock.

And I’m not talking about her Oscar worthy performance in The Blind Side, but for her version of an Old Hollywood, Veronica Lake. BRAVO! With the red carpet floating in a sea of updos (boring), one stood out from the rest at this years Academy Awards held on Sunday, March 7th.

According to her stylist, Adir Abergel, Sandra’s Marchesa dress had such a beautiful sparkle and reflection, he wanted to bring out that mirror finish to her hair. Well done Sir! I mean her hair was so shiny you could practically check your lipstick in it.

So how exactly does hair even get that shiny? It all begins with the right shampoo and conditioner. To achieve Sandra’s blinding shine (couldn’t resist), start with Organix revitalizing pomegranate green tea shampoo and conditioner. This sensual and exotic antioxidant rich formula targets dry and brittle hair, while awakening follicles to create a clean and rejuvenating experience, adding a brilliant and luminescent shine.

Make sure to allow the conditioner to remain on your hair for at least five minutes before rinsing with cool water. Brrrr, its cold you say? Using cold water at the end of your shower can make your hair appear shinier because it temporarily helps the cuticle flatten down onto the hair shaft.

Now while we want the hair as smooth as possible, we still need a little body for those big gorgeous waves in the ends. Add a bit of Organix revitalizing styling mousse and a small amount of Organix revitalizing pomegranate green tea anti-frizz serum. Then, use the arch of your eyebrow as a guide for making that side part.

When blow drying, place the brush underneath the first section of the hair, positioning it at the roots. Keeping the tension on the hair taut, move the brush down towards the ends, directing the air flow from the dryer so that it follows the downwards movement of the brush, this smoothes the cuticles.

Feeling glamorous already right? Next, use a flat-iron, moving it in a steady, single stroke to prevent ridges. Again, this process will close the hair cuticle to create sleek and highly reflective strands. When the cuticles are completely flattened they will reflect light and that’s the secret to the mirrored effect.

Last but not least, using a 1 inch curling iron, make a bunch of small curls at the bottom of your hair by putting the ends in the iron and then twist it up a few inches. Once the curls have cooled, brush all of the little curls into one big 1920’s wave. To finish the look, use Organix revitalizing pomegranate green tea styling whip to smooth flyaways. This is also fabulous if you have bangs that you want to sidesweep and secure behind your ear like Sandra’s. Tucking front sections will keep your face in the spotlight.

And that’s it! Now you are ready for your close up with this understated, elegant look.

Did you know that eating the right foods can help heal and strengthen your hair?

#1 Antioxidants: Vitamin E stimulates hair growth, while Vitamin A and C add shine by increasing the production of sebum. Sebum is an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands, which are attached to the hair follicles and prevent hair from drying out. We all know that dryness can cause major breakage! Oh and Vitamins A, C and E will improve the circulation to the scalp too. Find them in greens, carrots, apricots, citrus and kiwi.

#2 Essential Fatty Acids: Another thing that will improve a dry scalp is some fat in your diet. That’s right… FAT! Key word being some, lol! Find them in avocados, walnuts and flax seeds as well as Omega - 3 rich fish like tuna, salmon and halibut.

#3 Biotin: Want to ward away graying and hair loss? Sha! Experts say by eating foods rich with this B Vitamin, like almonds, bananas, strawberries, milk, egg yolks, liver, and rice is key. Not to mention, B7 will also thicken those tresses! Hungry yet?

#4 Folic Acids: Asparagus, citrus, peas, lentils, and turkey all contain folic acids, which will help deliver nutrients to the hair, promote growth and give you the hair you crave.

#5 Protein: Since hair is composed mostly of keratin protein, it is a no brainer that eating foods rich high in protein such as meat, eggs, seeds, nuts, and beans will reinforce the hair follicle and is essential for body and luster.

#6 Calcium: Got milk? By now everyone knows that calcium builds strong bones. But wait… there’s more! Hair and nails are byproducts of healthy calcium absorption. Proper absorption of calcium leads to improved blood circulation, which increases scalp circulation, allowing for adequate blood flow to the hair follicles. And yes, you guessed it, this is a vital nutrient to help your hair grow. You can also find calcium in strawberries, broccoli, cheese, and yogurt.

#7 Selenium: Struggling with dandruff, try selenium. This is found in Brazilian nuts, shellfish, whole grains, meat, fish, oatmeal and broccoli. It helps exfoliate the scalp. Research has also shown that an activity of this mineral is its anti-aging properties and its ability to rid the body of free radicals. Double bonus!

#8 Zinc: Found in foods such as red meat, eggs, oysters, peanuts and shellfish, this mineral helps to prevent hair loss. A diet lacking in zinc will cause a host of icky scalp problems and hair shedding.

#9 Iron: Adding foods high in iron to your diet will make hair healthy, stronger and thicken texture. Some excellent sources of iron include dark leafy greens, fortified cereal, lean red meat, nuts, and turkey. So start pumping some iron today!

#10 Water: Drink four to six glasses a day to keep your hair hydrated, plumped and smooth! Tap water can often taste bad depending on where you live, but it can contain silica, which is a mineral that is vital to the strength of your hair and can stop breakage. Silica also improves your hair’s elasticity. Your skin will thank you too.

As you can see, it is not just what you put on your tresses that count, it is what you put in your body too, so eat (and drink) your way to beautiful, healthy, shiny hair!Organixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11238538513201636842noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7911321119826813089.post-87603341611960808442009-12-16T18:26:00.006-05:002012-08-29T13:26:16.322-04:00Holiday Hollywood GlamourWell, it is that time of year again and the countdown has begun. This season you might say that old fashioned glamour is back! Save the boho waves for the weekend, big night hair looks like it took work. Here are some easy tips to achieve that retro, showstopping, old Hollywood glamour.

Use a curling iron to define waves, volumizers and hot rollers add height, but stay away from the little ones and these will leave curls too tight. Updos require bobby pins and statement making accessories.

Master the pin curl! During the 40s, the pin curl set formed the foundation of most styles. Pin curls were used on all types, textures and lengths of hair but were especially popular for the shorter styles.

Pin curls have the advantage of being fairly easy to create after a little practice. They are also easier to sleep in compared to the brush or large Velcro style rollers. If you're a beginner with pin curls or want to mix up the style a bit, experiment with mixing up different sets.

Try and alternate between larger and smaller loops or working with different types of parts ranging from a center to a deep side part. Set rows of pin curls, alternating the direction of the curls, clockwise and counter-clockwise. Consider placing the curls so that they alternate between curling toward the front or towards the back of your face. By alternating the direction of the pin curls, your tresses will coil into beautiful deep waves when you remove the pins.

Another option is to only apply pin curls to isolated sections of the hair or to just the top or just the bottom. Keep in mind that you can easily dictate the size of the waves by adjusting the size of the curls.

Here are some tips from hairboutique.com

1. Start by using a comb with a rat tail or if you prefer, use a fine toothed comb. From personal experience I can tell you that creating pin curls can be difficult without the proper comb.

2. Using the tail of the comb create a clean, deep part in your hair.

3. Carefully section off a 1" inch section of hair for a medium sized curls. Section off a smaller section for tighter curls and larger sections for looser curls.

4. Comb the new section until it is completely smooth.

5. Spritz the section with a spray bottle filled with water or you can experiment with a hairspray or super volumizing tonic.

6. Hold the section of hair flatly against your scalp with one finger.

7. Take the end of the section and wind in a clockwise position around the opposite index finger forming a complete circle. Keep in mind that for the best style, form a round curl and not an oval one.

Note: Be sure not to twist the hair as you wind it. Make sure that the ends are tucked inside of the curl and curl is pinned right on top of it natural hair base. Do not pin the curl away from the base of the curl.

8. Holding the end of the curl with the thumb of the same hand, slip the curl off the index finger letting the end naturally fold inward.

9. Continuing to hold the curl between the thumb and forefinger, finish winding it. Place it flat against the scalp. Clip it with a hair clip or two through the middle of the curl.

Note: If you prefer, you can use more than one clip on each curl. When using more than one clip, crisscross the clips to form an X configuration.

10. Press against the curl to make sure that the ends don't escape.
Note: You may wish to work with end papers available from most large beauty supply stores.

11. Once the curl is formed according to your desire, use a single or double pronged clip and slide it carefully over the newly formed curl to hold it in place.

Note: Keep in mind that many people prefer the double prong clips for sleeping comfort. Under no circumstance should you use bobby pins which will form dents in the hair and may add to overall frizziness.

12. Make sure that the curl is anchored tightly by the clip, especially if you plan to sleep in the set overnight.

13. Divide and conquer. Work in a uniform pattern when creating the curls, working from side to side and from top to bottom of the head.

14. Spray well with hairspray or styling spray. Sit under a hood dryer to set the style or sleep on the style overnight.

15. When styling, unclip one curl at a time. Use fingers to arrange the curls in the desired style.

The more hair you use, the looser the curls. The less hair, the tighter.

The tighter the loop, the tighter the curl.

Hair needs to be damp, not wet to hold the set.

The longer the clips are in place, the stronger the set.

Sleep in the clips overnight or if that is not possible, sit under a hood dryer.

If you have a shaggy, chunky or other hair cut that renders the strands uneven, use end papers (available at a beauty supply store) or roll your hair in clean strips of unscented plain toilet paper. This keeps all the curls uniform, neat and prevents the dreaded hook ends that may occur.

Practice clipping from the top of the clip to guarantee a tight hold.
Some of the trendiest styles of the year, such as the bob and the lob are popping up on some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and the key to these iconic looks begin with the perfect blowout. Here is how to do it!

Blowout 101:

1. Moisturize – Apply Organix shampoo generously to wet hair, massage into a lather at the roots and work your way down to the ends, then rinse the hair thoroughly. After shampooing, use your favorite Organix conditioner and work through to ends, wait three to five minutes. After rinsing all of the conditioner out of your hair, do a final rinse with cold water. Cold water helps to eliminate frizz and create more shine.

2. Protect Hair – Always begin by blow drying hair with a thermal protector like Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Smoothing Treatment or Soft & Silky Vanilla Silk Blow Dry Cream to protect and hold the style.

3. Work in Sections – Dividing hair into manageable sections will cut down on frizz and ensure that your hair is fully dry. Use clips to keep wet and dry areas separate, a must for the perfect blowout.

4. Blow it Out – Beginning at the nape of the neck and working your way toward the crown, pull each section taunt with a brush and aim the heat directly onto the section. Pull the brush down with the dryer going in the same direction, moving from root to tip. Use a round brush for fine, straight hair and a paddle brush for thick or curly hair.

5. Straighten Out – With the same manageable sections, use a ceramic flat iron to get a sleek and sexy style. Keep the iron moving in a steady downward motion to fend off ridges.

6. Polish - Finish with an Organix Serum like Revitalizing Pomegranate Green Tea Anti-Frizz, Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage, Smoothing Shea Butter Liquid Glass or Soft & Silky Vanilla Silk Serum to add shine, lock out frizz and tame flyaways.

Tyra uses this deep-conditioning mask to keep her hair looking young and healthy. Scoop a small amount, apply evenly over dry hair with a wide-toothed comb, leave in for 3-5 minutes and then rinse.

You can use the instant repair treatment several ways depending on your hair needs. Here are a few suggestions.

#1. Deep Conditioning Treatment - Apply the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Instant Repair Treatment evenly over DRY hair with a wide-toothed comb. The trade-secret on this product is that you can leave it on for up to an hour and use it as a deep conditioning mask. Once you’ve got the mask on, put a shower cap on, and then wrap a hot, wet towel around the shower cap. The heat will help the mask penetrate the hair even deeper, ensuring maximum conditioning.

#2. Condition Shampoo Condition Method - Apply the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Instant Repair Treatment evenly over DRY hair with a wide-toothed comb. Let sit for 3 to 5 minutes than shampoo, condition, and style.

#3. Use as a Conditioner - Apply the Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Instant Repair Treatment to wet hair after shampooing. Allow to sit for 3 to 5 minutes then rinse and style.
